Management
Kerryn Maher
Owner/ Yard Manager
Glover Paddocks is proudly owned and managed by Kerryn Maher, whose passion for horses and dedication to creating a welcoming equestrian community have shaped the yard into the thriving centre it is today.
Kerryn's equestrian journey began later in life when she took her first riding lesson at the age of 38 at Glover Paddocks. Just two years later, she and her family made the life-changing decision to purchase the stable yard. Since then, she has devoted herself to growing Glover Paddocks into the success that it is today.
A keen rider and competitor, Kerryn has enjoyed partnerships with several special horses over the years and is currently campaigning her young Warmblood cross Boerperd, Freddy Jeans. Her commitment to horse welfare extends well beyond competition, with every horse remaining part of her family throughout retirement at Riverside Rest, her own equine retirement farm in the Cradle of Humankind.
For Kerryn, Glover Paddocks is more than a riding school or stable yard—it is a community. She is passionate about creating an environment where riders of all ages can develop confidence, build lasting friendships, and share in the lifelong enjoyment of horses.
Mehluli Gumbo aka Wonder
Wonder is the Stable Yard Manager at Glover Paddocks and has been a valued member of the team for over 13 years. With extensive experience in stable yard management, he oversees the daily care of more than 80 horses while ensuring the smooth running of the yard and supporting both riders and horse owners.
Passionate about natural horsemanship, Wonder is known for his calm, patient approach and genuine understanding of horses. He has completed EQUASA Stable Yard Management Modules 1, 2 and 3, and has further developed his expertise through clinics presented by internationally respected horsemen, including Pat Parelli, Warwick Schiller and Monty Roberts.
An experienced groom, rider, accomplished in-hand show handler and licensed truck driver, Wonder also accompanies horses, riders and instructors to competitions, ensuring their safe transport and care. Living on the property, he plays an important role in maintaining the exceptional standard of care that defines Glover Paddocks.
Instructors
Tasmin Maher
Tasmin Maher is a professional open rider and highly experienced coach with a strong background in competitive equestrian sport. A graduate of Tshwane University of Technology in Equine Science, she also holds a Level 3 International Coaching qualification, placing her among the most highly qualified coaches in the country.
Although she competes as an open show jumper, Tasmin is a versatile horsewoman who has also achieved success in the showing arena, cross country, and dressage. This broad experience across multiple disciplines enables her to coach riders at every level and support their development across a wide range of equestrian pursuits.
Tasmin brings professionalism, knowledge, and genuine passion to her teaching. She is committed to developing riders from their very first lessons through to competitive levels, with a strong emphasis on correct foundations, horsemanship, and confident, capable riding.
Her approach ensures that riders progress with solid skills while enjoying the journey and building a lasting love for horses and the sport.
Andrea Bekker
I moved to Ireland to train with FEI level 3 international coach, Derek McConnell, in show jumping and eventing. On returning to South Africa, I embarked on my new riding journey with a young mare - Cornerstone's Qunu - and a new coaching career at Glover Paddocks. I am now a qualified FEI Level 2 coach, Equitation Judge and course builder for show jumping. I currently compete in the 1.20m classes in Showjumping with my Mare Qunu. We hope to jump into the 1.30m open category by the middle of this year 2024.
Tossy Raynor
FEI Level 3 Coach | Professional Rider | Show Jumping Specialist
Glover Paddocks is proud to have Tossy Raynor, an FEI Level 3 Coach, professional rider, and accomplished Show Jumper, working closely with our Open riders and instructors.
With decades of experience at the highest levels of the sport, Tossy is a President's Cup winner and former South African and Zimbabwean Champion. Her extensive competitive career and wealth of knowledge have earned her the respect of riders and coaches throughout the equestrian industry.
Tossy regularly presents show jumping clinics at Glover Paddocks, where she works alongside both riders and instructors to refine technical skills, develop confidence, and prepare for competitive success. Her experience and insight make her an invaluable mentor to those striving to reach their full potential.
Her plans for 2024 is to continue growing and learning in the industry. To complete her EQUASA Modules, part take in her third year of DSA Dressage Coaching Series. As well as compete in graded Novice classes with her new dressage partner Limelight.
Sarah Lessle
Sarah is 32 years and has been riding since age 11. She was born in Zimbabwe and was part of the local riding school. Where she had regular lessons. From age 13-14 years she was given the opportunity to ride club polocrosse.
She moved to South Africa and rode intermittently until her matric year.
After graduating at tertiary level and receiving her diploma in Coaching Science, Sarah coached various school sports. As well as sport specific training and fitness training.
Still passionate about horses, she found the opportunity to teach therapy riding and start her own riding school and livery yard.
Sarah has since then joined the Glover Team going on 5 years now, as a riders' coach/instructor, assisted in work riding, supporting riders at shows, assisted yard and office management.
She has competed up to 80cm in Showjumping and Novice level Dressage. She is an avid dressage enthusiast and enjoys coaching the showing disciplines and lower-level Equitation.
Having her niche and home at Glover Paddocks has made it possible for her to achieve her dream of buying and keeping her own horse "Limelight."
Abel Mokgwateng
Instructor | Work Rider | Lunge Specialist
Abel Mokgwateng joined the Glover Paddocks team four years ago and has become a valued member of the coaching and training team. He has competed in both show jumping, dressage and showing, developing a strong foundation across all the disciplines.
Abel furthered his equestrian education at the South African Lipizzaner Centre, where he completed extensive training in horsemanship, advanced lunging, young horse handling, and performance preparation.
He was selected to ride in the renowned Ballet of the White Stallions, performing in the technically demanding Quadrille—a testament to his skill, precision, and dedication.
Today, Abel is a work rider and instructor at Glover Paddocks, specialising in lunge lessons for novice, intermediate and advanced riders. He is also pursuing his own competitive goals with the Appaloosa stallion, Kondos Madiba, with aspirations in dressage and showing
Emily Elmendorp
Instructor | Work Rider
Emily Elmendorp is a rider and instructor at Glover Paddocks with over 14 years of riding experience. Throughout her career, she has specialised in working with and producing young horses, including valuable time spent in Germany training under Paul Schockemöhle.
Having worked alongside a variety of respected riders and coaches over the years, Emily has developed a well-rounded and adaptable approach to both horsemanship and instruction. She believes that every horse and rider is unique and tailors her teaching to suit each individual's needs and goals.
Emily is passionate about helping riders build confidence and feel comfortable in the saddle, creating a positive, supportive environment where both horse and rider can develop at their own pace.
Her philosophy is centred on strong foundations, patience, and always putting the horse's welfare first. Emily believes that lasting partnerships are built on trust, understanding, and good horsemanship, and she firmly stands by the principle of "love the horse first and the sport second."
Laura - Mae Barnard
Instructor
Laura-Mae Barnard specialises in coaching adult riders of all ages and abilities, from beginners through to advanced riders. She brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and a lifelong passion for horses to every lesson, making her a firm favourite with her riders.
A successful competitive rider in her own right, Laura-Mae has competed across a variety of equestrian disciplines. She draws on this extensive experience to provide practical, knowledgeable and confidence-building instruction tailored to each rider's individual goals.
Laura-Mae is passionate about helping riders develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy every stage of their equestrian journey. She believes every ride is an opportunity to learn and grow, and takes great pride in celebrating both major achievements and the small milestones that lead to lasting success.
Her philosophy is simple:
"There is always something worth celebrating in every ride. Every step forward, no matter how small, is progress.
Grooms
We are fortunate to have an incredible team of grooms who genuinely love what they do and take immense pride in the care, wellbeing, and presentation of the horses in their care.
Many of our grooms have completed a range of specialised training courses, covering areas such as in-hand handling of horses in competition, daily veterinary care, professional show turnout preparation, including plaiting and sewing of manes and tails, Level 1 first aid, and natural horsemanship techniques. Their dedication to learning ensures that our horses receive knowledgeable and attentive care every day.
Our grooms are always eager to expand their knowledge and regularly participate in in-house training as well as external educational opportunities, continuously developing their skills and expertise.
Working alongside them is our maintenance and grounds team, who ensure that the property is kept in impeccable condition. Their work helps maintain safe paddocks for the horses, comfortable and well-maintained facilities for riders, and the beautiful grounds and relaxation areas that make Glover Paddocks such a special place to be.
Together, this dedicated team plays a vital role in creating the safe, welcoming, and professionally run environment that our horses, riders, and visitors enjoy every day.
